We had a VERY busy day today. After starting off our year with Mass with Fr. Mark, we spent time getting our supplies settled. We also had some very important conversations with each other about the ways we wanted our classroom to look, feel, and run. We'll be using those conversations in the next few days to write a contract for the classroom. Keep an eye on this page for a look at it later in the week! While there are so many important things that we will learn this year, perhaps the most important things are teamwork and the ability to make a new plan when our first one doesn't work. To introduce these two points, our class participated in the Marshmallow Challenge. Using only 20 pieces of dry spaghetti, 1 yard of tape, and 1 yard of string, students had to build a tower that would support the weight of a marshmallow. We quickly learned that it isn't as easy as it sounds. We had to work together, and change our plans A LOT in order to make a structure that works. Check out the pictures below. I am so glad that I had a chance to meet all of you today. I am SO excited that you are in my class :) I'll see you tomorrow!
